Member Spotlight: Elysia King Art
MEET ELYSIA KING
We’re excited to introduce you to Elysia, a live event artist and featured member of The Collective. We recently connected with her and have shared our conversation below.
Can you tell us about the service(s) you offer and how you got your start?
I have been a Live Wedding Artist since 2022. I started by offering live paintings and guest portrait sketches during weddings, and grew from there.
What makes you + your business unique?
I offer a bespoke art experience specifically customized to the couple and and their guests to commemorate the wedding day!
Can you share a bit about why you choose to do what you do?
I believe art unites people, and I love the creative and collaborative process of working with clients.
How would your clients describe working with you?
They’d likely say that I am professional and engaging! Guests love to watch during live painting, and guest portraits always bring out a great crowd.
Tell us about a big lesson that you've learned while in your industry.
Comparison is a trap. Collaboration is key. That goes for all creative vendors, not just artists.
We all have favorite wedding moments. Can you share with us some of your favorites?
1. Painting in Tuscany.
2. Achieving a new PR for most guest portraits painted
3. Anytime the couple reacts with excitement to their finished painting. That's when I know I've done a good job
Who was your most memorable wedding/couple and why?
There are too many to count, but outdoor weddings are some of my favorites to capture. And obviously my weddings in Italy are top tier memories. You can't beat the inspiration there.
If you could give advice to your past self or someone starting new, what would you say?
Don't compare and don't quit. The entry fee for creativity is bad art.
What is something that you really excel at when it comes to your business? Can you share a tip?
I excel in client communication. I worked in the medical field prior to art taking off and I've always prided myself on being able to talk to anyone and everyone.
What is an achievement you're most proud of?
I am always giddy anytime someone directly refers me to a couple. It's the best feeling.
Hit us with a fun fact about yourself!
Before art took off, I was an ICU Nurse. Nowadays, Nursing is my "backup job" in case I need a side hustle. Usually those roles are reversed.
