Member Spotlight: AGE Entertainment

Meet AGE Entertainment

We’re excited to introduce you to Aaron Griffing, Owner of AGE Entertainment, one of our talented St. Louis DJs and featured member of The Collective. We recently connected with him and have shared our conversation below.

Can you tell us about the service(s) you offer and how you got your start?

I am a wedding entertainer, timeline coordinator, and party thrower. I got started by DJ'ing for a friend almost 10 years ago, and fell in love with helping couples celebrate their best day ever!

What makes you + your business unique?

I want to learn about the couples I have the honor of working with. I want to be your friend, and get to know you; get you talking about what music makes them feel. Whether it's finding your inner emo kid, shakin' it to hip hop and rap, or even singing along to motown, I make it my goal to keep everyone on the dance floor until the last song. (PS: I have been called the pop punk wedding DJ a few times).

Can you share a bit about why you choose to do what you do?

I believe that your wedding should be the most fun you ever have at a wedding, and it’s my job to ensure that you do.

How would your clients describe working with you?

That’s easy: Easy-going, fun, and LOUD!

Tell us about a big lesson that you've learned while in your industry.

Not everyone has the same taste in music, and that's okay. We can find a compromise that keeps everyone out on the dance floor.

We all have favorite wedding moments. Can you share with us some of your favorites?

One memory is when Ryan took the microphone and sang Like A Prayer in its entirety to his new wife.

Another- I got to celebrate with Gabriel and Laura at a micro-wedding with 26 guests. The small crowd was easily the happiest, most engaging group I have ever worked with. The only local guests were the newlyweds. Everyone else was either from South America or other states, and we all had a blast.

Lastly, At Sean and Marleigh's wedding, when we got toward the end of the night, we got to playing some emo music and some Taylor Swift. It was the first time almost everyone in the room saw Sean dance. When I talked to him after the reception ended, he told me it was the first time he has ever had a DJ play music he likes to dance to at a wedding reception.

Who was your most memorable wedding/couple and why?

Amanda and Ross asked me to play emo and pop punk music from when we were in high school. I was hesitant about it, since I had primarily done more 'traditional' dance floor selections. I stepped out of my comfort zone that day - it was 100+ degrees, we were outside, and we were all wearing masks. That was one of the most passionate and entertaining dance floors I have had - it was like we were at a concert the way that Ross, Amanda, and friends got down that night!

If you could give advice to your past self or someone starting new, what would you say?

A dance floor isn't just for dancing. Play the songs that make people happy.

What is something that you really excel at when it comes to your business? Can you share a tip?

I am good at making my couples really engage in picking music. During our first consultation, I let them know that I want them to really think about what songs make them, their friends, and their family really react. I am lackluster at social media, but I can talk to anyone about music and weddings.

What is an achievement you're most proud of?

Honestly, I grew up wanting to a professional musician. I have played in bands, done solo shows, and even recorded. I realized that entertaining is really my passion. Getting to spend my weekends singing along to everyone's favorite songs is the best job in the world.

Any random, off the wall fun fact you care to share with us?

I am an IT Engineer and pitbull advocate.

We loved learning more about AGE Entertainment and are thrilled to have Aaron in The Collective. Be sure to give him a follow!
